This was last July at the Tombolo on Lake Superior. It was breezy and foggy and generally pissing me off photographically. I decided to try stopping all the way down and throw on an ND filter to get a 30 sec. exposure. That looked kind of ghostly so I thought of walking into the frame to make myself a ghost. Turned out kind of fun. If you’re burning vacation, you have to come away with something so it was out of the box time.

End of Fall
At the end of September I got a bonus weekend up north. All the campgrounds were full but I found an abandoned gravel pit off the Honeymoon Trail. Some other people showed up also looking for a spot and there was plenty of room so we ended up having a communal campfire. It got foggy after dark and I thought it might be worth trying a classic lit tent and campfire pic. If I had to title this I would call it “New friends, cheap beer – it doesn’t get any better than this.” 😉

It was clear a couple nights ago so I stepped out on the deck for a few minutes to shoot the moon. It’s nice when you don’t have to travel to get a shot like this.

This is from July. I came up with the concept for this shot a couple of weeks in advance of the the trip and I was really happy that I got the weather and found a good spot to make it happen. This is the best of five attempts at the light painting. It’s not perfect, but I like it a lot.
