Don’t Forget To Turn Around

These are from the shore in front of a rented cabin on Lake Superior. The air over the lake was a little misty so the Milky Way wasn’t as defined as I was hoping, but it was still pretty nice. I just happened to turn around to shoot northeast and got a surprise. At first I thought it was just the cabin lights making some beams in the mist but after the first couple exposures I realized I was getting northern lights (a camera sensor can capture much more than the naked eye can see). I only got the edge because of the direction of the shore but I got some keepers. Nice bonus.

Milky Way on the Deck

The humidity was low last night and made for an amazingly clear night for being in town. I just had to jump out on the deck and take a few quick shots of the Milky Way. Not quite as dramatic as the north woods skies, but it showed up really well. The glow on the horizon is a small town about 10 mi. to the south. I’ll take this for an urban deck view any day.

Spring Bloom

This has been a weird spring. 3 of our 4 flowering crabs had very sparse blooms this year. I was still able to get a few nice flower shots though.

Sheet of Clouds

I like shooting clouds because every shot is unique. This is a really flat pattern at sunset that caught my eye. The portrait shot is looking west and the landscape is a minute later looking south.
