Going Small

Supernatural?

I finally got to go camping. The first night I experimented with capturing the moonset over the main island in Ninemile Lake. I tried light painting the island as well, which was hard to get good results from, especially with the fog rising off the lake. This first one I got a cool glow with the moon behind some thin clouds.

This one I got an interesting pattern in the mist.

On the next two, I’m not sure what the hell the streaks are. Could be ghosts, aliens or fractures in the space-time continuum. Who knows?

Milky Way again

Other than the thunderhead I just posted about, the rest of the sky was crystal clear. I was able to get the Milky Way again with the added bonus of lightning over the horizon light painting some of the trees.

Milky Way First Attempt

A couple nights ago when I had to let the dogs out to pee I saw the sky was really clear, and amazingly I actually had the ambition to try and take a shot. After 10 min. of stumbling around the house (at 3:00 AM) going “WTF? Where the hell did I leave my tripod?”, I managed to get a couple captures. At full size, it’s pretty grainy and I don’t think I got the inifinity focus quite right, but at Web size it doesn’t look too bad. I’m happy as a first attempt.

The clouds are being good to me. Happened to look up and see this pattern. It almost looks like a long exposure but I assure it’s not. 1/500 sec. actually. Pretty funky.
