Merry Christmas

Fun special effect.  If I picked the right ones, one is zooming in and the other is zooming out.  Little different from each other.

And of course, it’s always acceptable to embarrass your dogs during the holidays…

Night

It was mostly discouragingly cold, but I did try a few shots under the full moon.

Here’s a nice “ghost” from light painting the mist rising off the lake.

The trees on the campground road look kind of cool under moonlight.

And here’s a simple reflection by moonlight.

Roll With It

So for the last 4 days the theme of the camping trip has been dealing with frustration. It started with a monster storm that caused flash flooding then followed up with wild variations between comfortably warm and unseasonably cold.  This day brought ridiculous winds that turned setting up the truck tent into a 45 min. comedy that taxed my vocabulary of profanity.  Finally it was time to sit down and have a beer when my only chair failed and collapsed.

Sometimes there’s nothing left to do but laugh maniacally…

What The …?

This is not a temporary flood.  Later I thought maybe it’s a cross-country ski trail shelter but I don’t remember any sign of a trail on the other side of the road.  Don’t know…

Campsites

Whether it’s a regular tent or a truck tent (which I highly recommend), I do know some prime campsites.  If the weather is good, nothing beats camping in an excellent spot.

Camping on a lake positioned for the sunset is especially sweet.

Fall

I got no chance at all to get out and hunt fall colors this year so this is my only shot.  An art critic could say something like “The juxtaposition of the solitary red leaf among the sea of yellow eminently symbolizes the  ultimate isolation of the individual even when part of a community…” Or someone like me could say “Ooh, look at the pretty leaves.” LOL

Doomsday Preppers?

Doomsday
So I was doing some yard work and discovered this in my woodpile.  I hope the squirrels aren’t trying to tell us something about the coming winter.

Stone House

There’s an abandoned farm that’s now part of a nearby recreational area.  The ruins of the farmhouse are pretty cool. This is the view from the trail:

Spring Thaw

Winter gets old fast and the best part is when everything starts to melt.  Here I loved the way the porch light was illuminating some icicles.

This one is nothing special except it’s cool the way the leaf sank straight into the snow and even left behind vertical columns of snow where it had a couple gaps. (If nothing else, it still means its getting warmer 😉 )
